Al Qamer is a pioneering Jordanian company advancing innovation in the energy and waste management sectors. In partnership with Enecovery, a global leader in clean and sustainable Waste-to-Energy (WtE) technologies, the company is developing an integrated solution that converts oil shale, mixed waste, plastics, rubber, oil sludge, and municipal waste into valuable clean fuels and gases—without leaving any residue.
The mission is to transform Jordan’s energy sector through environmentally responsible technologies that convert waste into clean energy. Through this collaboration with Enecovery, Al Qamer aims to promote a circular economy, minimize environmental impact, and enhance Jordan’s long-term energy independence.
The Al Qamer – Enecovery Integrated Waste-to-Energy Project is anchored on a 59.32 sq. km oil shale block in Jordan, operating under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in November 2014 with the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources (MEMR). The project extracts petrochemicals from shale and reform waste into high-value clean fuels including Light Diesel Oil (LDO), gasoline, jet fuel, and other petrochemical products.
Enecovery’s proprietary Thermo Catalytic Conversion (TCC) system enables real-time conversion of hydrocarbon-based feedstocks into clean, sulphur-free fuel derivatives, LPG gas, carbon, and water. This advanced heterogeneous catalytic process reforms oil shale, tar sands, plastics, rubber, and municipal waste efficiently—without requiring segregation, drying, or pre-processing.
The Al Qamer – Enecovery project represents the fusion of technological innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainable waste management. By enabling real-time catalytic conversion of waste into fuel, the system reduces environmental burden while contributing to a cleaner energy ecosystem. It supports Jordan’s vision of a decentralized and sustainable energy model, creating new jobs, reducing waste accumulation, and driving industrial growth.
